We were created for worship. God designed us to worship him alone, however sin has derailed our worship. The gospel aligns our worship back to its rightful place, therefore worship is a crucial part of discipleship. We worship God through gospel centered preaching, teaching, prayer, song, fellowship, baptism and communion.
The gospel not only redeems our worship, but our relationship to God and one another. The Church models this reality in the family of God. Christian community is where we live gospel centered relationships and discipleship happens. We want to create opportunities for shared life through holistic life groups. These groups go beyond just learning about the bible, challenging us to live more connected to Jesus and one another. Life groups are a place where it is safe to be real, experience intentional relationships, and grow in faith and maturity in Jesus Christ.
Service flows out of discipleship. We are generous because God is generous. As followers of Jesus we are not called to simply receive, but to be like God in His generosity. This generosity is an outpouring of Spirit living in us, marked by humility and grace. As a church, we value the generosity of God and desire to be generous people by giving of our time, talent and treasure to care for the needs of others.
Jesus commands us to be disciples who make disciples. At Highlands, we believe every relationship is an opportunity for discipleship on some level. We must be intentional about living on mission for Jesus. Our aim is to equip and empower God’s people to multiply and fulfill the great commission to make disciples of all nations.
